Where to begin: what the set specifies and how it is laid out, the machine at a glance, the execution environment with its stations and architectural register file, and the wave log — the one ordered truth everything else is read from.

Read these four in order. By the end of volume 03 every later volume has its ground: the tuple envelope, the offsets that order it, and the rule that the log is only ever appended to.
